Frequently asked
Questions.
Why book direct?
Booking directly means no platform commission: you save ~20%.
How does the booking process work?
Click Book direct to choose your preferred dates and group size. We’ll check availability and send a response within 24 hours. A 20% deposit confirms the booking; the balance is due before arrival.
What are your policies?
We keep it simple. The minimum stay is 4 nights. There are 22 beds, and up to 30 people can be on site for events. Check-in is after 16:00, check-out before 11:00. Vidovina lies in a nature park with neighbours on the surrounding hills: please mind nature and the neighbours.
What is the minimum stay?
We typically require a minimum of 4 nights. If the calendar permits we sometimes do 3 nights. Contact us for exact availability.
Is catering available?
Yes, you can contact local chefs Alice (+39 331 702 9157) or Andrea (+39 328 473 3310) to provide healthy meals and even groceries. You can also order meals from nearby restaurants like Locanda Cardello (+39 0546 73917).
Is transportation available?
Casola Valsenio is challenging to reach by public transport. Renting a car from Bologna airport is recommended. Alternatively, a local taxi service is available (+39 335 678 3599).
Are yoga teachers and massages available?
Absolutely. Yoga classes can be arranged with Gabriela (+39 347 362 2772). For Ayurvedic massage, contact Sabrina (+39 339 473 0992, Italian only). We can also provide yoga sets (mat, cushion, two cork blocks, and blanket) for retreat groups.
Is Vidovina suitable for events and celebrations?
Yes. The house, studio, and garden make a beautiful setting for small weddings, milestone birthdays, and private celebrations for up to 30 people.
How to get there?
Bologna airport is the closest hub — 68km by car. Pisa and Milan are decent alternatives. We strongly recommend renting cars; public transport to Casola Valsenio is sparse and taxi services are expensive.
What is the weather like?
As the house lies on a hilltop amid a forest, it's generally less hot than in the valleys, and the breeze does a lot of work too during hot days. Expect 25–35°C in July and August, and 17–25°C in May, June, September and October.
Is there heating / air conditioning?
The thick walls insulate well against heat and cold. For cooling, we use fans, shades, and the Italian approach: keep windows closed during the day and open them at night to let in the cool air. Plus dips in the pool whenever you want. For extra warmth, there are two wood stoves and each guest gets an extra fleece blanket.
Is the pool heated?
The pool is not heated — it relies on the Italian sun. Water temperatures are typically comfortable June through September.
Are pets allowed?
Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please let us know in advance.
